Takoma Langley Crossroads Sector Plan - Proposed Goals and Outreach Strategy

Dear Stakeholder:

The Montgomery County and Prince George’s County planning departments are beginning the process of preparing a Sector Plan for the Takoma/Langley Crossroads area. This Sector Plan will recommend land uses, zoning, community facilities and transportation systems in the area surrounding the proposed transit center and future Purple Line Metro Station.

Enclosed for your information is the proposed Goals and Outreach Strategy Report for the upcoming Sector Plan. This report describes the issues to be addressed in the Sector Plan and recommends a public participation strategy. It will be presented to the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (i.e., the combined Montgomery County and Prince George’s County Planning Boards) for their consideration and approval on January 16, 2008. The Commission meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Langley Park Community Center, 1500 Merrimac Drive. Light refreshments will be provided.

After presentation of the report, there will be an opportunity for members of the community to comment. You are also invited to share your thoughts with the staff on the Sector Plan project team at any point during the planning process. Contact information is listed below. You can also visit our project web site at www.mncppc.org/TLC.

Thank you for your interest and commitment to the Takoma/Langley Crossroads area.

Sincerely,

Takoma Park was founded by Benjamin Franklin Gilbert in 1883 and became a municipality in 1890. For many years the dividing line between the counties of Montgomery and Prince George was going through the city, but in 1997 by popular referendum of the county line was changed to be fully included Takoma Park in Montgomery County.
