If you care about Silver Spring's only real public place in the downtown then come out to the town meeting on Saturday, May 5 at 1 PM.
Show your colors: Wear Blue if you want Ice. Wear Green if you want Turf. (Wear plaid if you can't decide.)
The people who planned the covered ice-rink and plaza will be on hand to tell you why they think the rink is the best choice. Someone from Park and Planning will be there to tell you why their staff thinks open green space is a better choice.
Listen to the experts and then let the experts listen to you, the real experts. No one knows what we want better than we do.
Make some signs. The county executive and Park and Planning will be watching. If the residents have a clear passion they will notice; if we are indifferent they will notice that too.
In the end, far more important than turf or ice, is whether we make this decision or the decision is made for us. Come out and be counted.
